Other Fixtures
I have now had notification of up to 4 other games we can play at U16's. Home and away against Pannal and also against Leeds Owls. These games effectively become the Airedale JCL U16 girls league. The Leeds games will be in early July whilst the Pannal games will be in late June. I am aiming to arrange our home games for Wednesday evenings.

Lady Taverners
A joint BRCC and IGS U15 8 a-side team will be selected shortly to play the Yorkshire regional qualifier for the LT Outdoor Hardball Competition. The winners will represent Yorkshire in the North of England Playoff with the winners of that competition travelling to Bath to play in the Nationals. Florence Haines will skipper the team and I am in liaison with the YCB about dates. I hope to be able to take the team direct from school and use the IGS mini bus.

Ladies Fixtures

Following our first win our next Nidderdale game is at home to Pannal on the 25th.
I can also advise that we have now had invitations to play 2 more friendlies. Bradford Ladies 2nd team will play us in a 20 over friendly. (Needle match as both Stef and Naimee have played for them), and we have been invited for an end of season social with Cookridge based Old Modernians Ladies - also a Northern Premier team.

Reps

Congratulations to our representative players this season so far. Naimee has been selected for the Yorkshire U17's team and has also been called up to play for Bradofrd Ladies first team.  Florence Haines, Lauren Oxtoby and Laura Scarlett have all played for the West Yorkshire District Team.

We have recieved the following notice from the YCB:

We appreciate some of our members have traditionally shied away from taking advantage of coaching opportunities outside the club but as this county level initiative has a strong link to BRCC we thought it would be of interest.

Some of our members are already attending so there might also be the opportunity to share lifts etc.

Please do not be put off. The Bronze level is for girls who have played cricket and want to improve but have not necessarily played any representative cricket. We beleive all the girls who were coached and played last year would be accepted if nominated.

There is a charge of £48 and the county and local authority can help with fees if this is an issue.

Spring is just around the corner and the cricket season will be upon us soon. Please give this some thought. If you want to take this up the form is now in the downloads section. [LINK]

If anyne wants any details or more information please contact Andrew or myself. Please let us know if you intend to apply. Details on the contacts page.

Yorkshire County Board West Bronze Centre

The Association is pleased to advise that there will be series of six weeks coaching sessions for girls aged starting on Saturday 28th February at Pudsey Crawshaw School for six weeks finishing 4th April. The times of the two hour sessions are 2pm – 4pm. The Centre Director is Andrew Jennings who will be supported by two other qualified coaches.

Ladies In Nidderdale League Print E-mail

To all current ladies, girls and prospective players,

We are pleased to be able to report that, during their recent AGM, the member clubs of the Nidderdale Ladies Evening League voted to invite BRCC to play in their 20 overs mid-week evening competition.

The first year is a probationary year and we get to play all the teams in the league. They get a chance to check us out, and likewise we get a chance to see how we perform, how much we enjoy it and also learn what we need to do to be reasonably competetive next season.

We see this as the next logical step in the development of womens cricket at BRCC. Many of our U16 team from last year are now too old to play U16 so we were keen to give then an opportunity to continue to play cricket. We also recognise that - due to the limited level of opposition in the area - we struggled to get the U16's enough cricket. This move allows us to offer a guarrantee of cricket in 2009 - and with no age limit we are pleased to report that we will now be able to offer cricket to all players as we know some of the older players were dissappointed last year.

We have quite a bit of work to do to get ready. First up will be to organise a meeting/presentation to players (current and prospective) and we already have a meeting with the YCC Womens Cricket Development Officer scheduled for the first week after New Year.

Please check out the web site or if you are not subscribed please do so. We will continue to update everyone on  developments as we move forward as usual via the web site.

If anyone wants to check out next seasons opposition, the Nidderdale Leagues web site just CLICK HERE.

Best wishes for 2009 eveyone. See you next year.
